The boat is constructed by using eco-friendly materials like Anjily wood, Bamboo and Bamboo mat, Areca trees and coir. A distinctive feature of the kettuvallom is the design suggesting the possible Chinese influence. The canopy’s sides can be lifted. Traditionally, the boat only had a single such opening on either side. But our houseboats have two, thus ensuring plenty of shade, cool breeze, and a better view of the passing scenery.

In the one bedroom boat the living cum dining room is bigger in size. This boat can accommodate two persons.

The two bedroom boat also has a living cum dining room. This boat can accommodate four persons. House Boats have both A.C. and non A.C. bed rooms.
HOUSE BOATS UNDER CONSTRUCTION / REPAIR AT OUR DOCK

Above picture is the first stage construction of house boat where the hull and bottom part is made. The boat is about 90 feet long and 15 feet wide.This can accomodate two self contained bed rooms, living area and kitchen.

The average time required for the construction of boat is two months. After that, construction of Valavara (roof) is taking place. Eco-friendly materials like bamboo mat, Areca trees,bamboo strips and coir is using for it. The average time required for making Valavara is one month.The total time required to complete a house boat including hull, roof, rooms, furnishing,sanitation, electrification and air conditioning will take five to six months.
